Many thanks to all who turned up for the repair work on the pontoon and clubhouse.  Please take boats off the pontoon for the winter to ease the pressure on it during the bad weather.

Junior SaiIing

Congratulations to Tomas Power, Alex Fay,    Kevin Brazel and John Flynn who passed the ISA instructor pre assessment in Wexford. They will continue their training in the spring. Thanks to Fergal Brazel for organising that.

Some boats still have sails on the masts in the dinghy park, there are two problems with this, the noise of the sails flogging is upsetting the adjacent residents and the sails will be ruined by the time you want them in the spring. Please call in and take them

Dungarvan Harbour  Sailing  Club

A brilliant racing season for  John Flynn.
John won the Overall Laser 4.7 National Championship in Ballyholme this weekend
There were eight  races over three  days with forty sailors from twenty one clubs from all over Ireland.

The regatta was sailed in mixed conditions with light winds on Thursday and increasing wind strengths on Friday to gale conditions on Saturday. Sunday’s racing was called off because of the strong wind and huge surf in the slip area. This gave eight races sailed with one discard.
John Result:  1, 1, 5, (22), 11, 2, 3, 1, Nett 24   Four points ahead of next boat

This is a kind of Triple Crown because he won all three national titles this year.

Irish Laser Association National Overall Championship            (OPEN)

Hi Everyone,
We were hoping to get off this morning but there is a problem with the boat, have a meeting with the skipper around 12 today. The weather is awful here tomorrow, so looking like a Wednesday swim.
Having a ball here have met two relay teams from Leinster who are in a similar window to ourselves, the guys in the mobile home next to us were here their full ten days and only got to swim yesterday-they are from Italy, doing a two  man relay, they found it very cold (training in 30degs) and were very sick when on the boat – but they did it in 12 hours 🙂 Everyone is so nice and it’s all swim talk so our heads are in the right place.  The water is very salty and milky to swim in but there is a great camaraderie at the beach.
Will keep you updated.
